Hello, my name is Dalvin Kakande. I’m a friend of God and caretaker for homeless children. I was raised in poverty with no hope for education, but I had faith in Christ.
The Lord began speaking to me at a young age to help the orphans and bring them in off the streets. I promised God that I would help these vulnerable children. I didn’t have any money, but I had faith. When Moses was called into the ministry, he had nothing but a stick in his hand (Ex 4:4). That scripture has encouraged me through many trials.
Through the help from various donators, we established a home and a school for the children. Garden of God’s Children houses 46 children and our primary school provides education for 75 children.
It is my prayer that one day we will have our own home on our own property, and some land that we can farm on to provide for ourselves. With God’s help, nothing is impossible.

Dalvin Kakande.   The Director

I am 38 years old, married with 6 children and a born-again Christian. I am a mechanical
engineer by profession, having graduated from Makerere University-Uganda in 2001.
I worked in a development financial institution for five and a half years as an engineer-lease
finance officer. Later I worked in AA Uganda as technical manager for two years. I worked in
Toyota Uganda for two and a half years, three years in private projects and now back at AA
Uganda for close to two years as a consultant.
Due to the current low level of economic activity in our country, there are very limited resources
that keep us struggling to fend for our families. There is a big number of children in Uganda that
have no help due to numerous reasons. Uganda is a country that was ravaged by HIV & AIDS
leaving a high number of orphanages.

I am so happy to be part of this group that practices true religion by supporting the orphans and the
needy as it is written in James 1:27. I am a teacher and a counselor by profession.
I have been a part of GGC for the last five years. I call it an opportunity because my heart is in
children and working with community. I served in various positions including administration, project
coordinator and others. I have been doing this on a voluntary basis. I have personally supported GGC
through ongoing projects like the school and farming.
I also work with another organization called ASHINAGA Uganda (founded in Japan) which
supports Aids orphans in psycho-social and educational support. Last year I was among the
ASHINAGA Uganda team that traveled to New York city, Washington DC and Tokyo, Japan to
promote the education of Africa. Through that experience I have come to understand what a
vulnerable African child goes through.
